Richard Hotes personally thanks Lisa and Robert Hoye for their special care and love given to Elijah
Elijah is a Miracle Baby. His Miracle status, however, has been discovered mostly because Lisa and Robert Hoye have made that possible. Their hearts were open to taking in a baby whose prognosis from the beginning has appeared nearly hopeless from a strictly worldly standpoint. Before and since Elijah left Haiti, extraordinarily capable and experienced medical professionals were convinced that it was highly likely that he was both deaf and blind. Some even concluded that it was an absolute after their examinations of him. This was a perfectly reasonable conclusion especially after an MRI revealed the extent of damage to his brain.
While we mortals have no choice but to use the advanced science we have to draw conclusions and determine actions this shocking discovery of Elijah's sight and even "normal" hearing is clear proof that God is always working among us and having His own fun defying the "natural laws" of the earth we live on. Upon discovering Elijah it was clear that he was a perfect example of "The least of these" as talked about in the Holy Bible. The Hoye's took him not into their home but into their hearts. Jesus Himself said, "What you do to the least of these you do to me." Jesus also said in Matthew 25:35-36 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
The Hoye family fed, clothed, sheltered and took in a child who was alone and imprisoned by the limitations placed upon him by the way in which and by the place he came into the world. The way I read God's Word, Jesus says to those who do not take care of Him in the form of Elijah and all the other babies born into similar circumstances to "I never knew you; depart from me,” and that he does not recognize them. But He welcomes those who take care of the Elijah’s of the world in His Name.
Therefore I believe it is more certain than the chair I sit on that the roles will be reversed when we get to Heaven. I believe that Elijah will be there to take care of us and that the Hoye family will be the first in his household in Heaven.
