About Tish Jurica
Tish Jurica is a Texas A&M University alumna with bachelor’s degree in Communications. Shortly after graduating, she was hired to lead the business development and marketing team at Alaska Structures. Tish applied several times to be a Hotes Foundation volunteer before being chosen for a major international relief mission to help Filipino victims of Typhoon Ketsana, known as Tropical Storm Ondoy in the Philippines.
Tish said the misery and abject poverty she experienced in the Philippines gave her “a perspective on life badly needed by all Americans.” Tish added that she and other Hotes Foundation volunteers subject themselves to extreme weather, unsanitary conditions, illness and injury because the world’s poorest of the poor are usually found in those settings and face those same challenges.
When she is not working, volunteering or spending time with friends and family, Tish enjoys reading, catching up on her favorite TV shows or finding craft ideas, life hacks and recipes on Pinterest even though she does not cook.
